DJ John B’s Top Local Chicago Releases for 2009

By • Dec 27th, 2009 • Category: Top Releases of the Year

So, simply enough… it only took me three weeks of listening to all these great bands at work, home, and everywhere in between before I could piece them together at their final spots. I based their positions in the Top 10 based upon how solid their releases were… how original or even how well they delivered their music as a recording… and would I continue to pick this album up 5 years from now and take a listen.

01 – Haymarket Riot – “Endless Bummer”

02 – Noise By Numbers – ” Yeah, Whatever…”
03 – Mannequin Men -  “Lose Your Illusion Too”
04 – VEE DEE -  “Public Mental Health System”
05 – CoCoComa – “Things Are Not All Right”
06 – The Wanton Looks – “Demo”
07 – Telefon Tel Aviv – “Immolate Yourself”
08 – Califone – “All My Friends are Funeral Singers”
09 – The Scotland Yard Gospel Choir “… and the Horse You Rode in On”
10 – Panther Style – “¡Emergencia!”

Honorable Mention:

Kevin Flynn & The Avondale Ramblers – “The Murderer, The Thief, The Minstrels and the Rest”
