So this is winter… not quite yet though, right? I mean it’s only 28 degrees, that’s barely a Chicago mild winter day. But nonetheless, I’m not in the mood for noise or chaos or any of that nonsense. When it’s this cold out all you want to do is make a pot of coffee, put on a good Winter Mix and veg out…
The Winter mix should be soft, slow, mellow. No surprises. Singers you adore, musicians that soothe, songs that seep in slowly and unknowingly.
A little country added to the mix perhaps or some punks gone acoustic… or just a lovely female voice spinning in your ears
But what’s most important they should make you feel at home, light-headed and floating in outerspace… The Winter Mix should be your most prized mix, most emotional mix, most dramatic mix, most beloved mix – because it’s not made for any stupid love gone wrong, not for a friend who doesn’t exist anymore, not for an unrequited crush – the Winter Mix should be the pinnacle of your mix collection because it’s a mix you make for yourself. It’s a mix no one can touch, it’s for you and you alone. The Winter Mix is like Fitzgerald novel… it’s dreary, sad, and lost – but it will always be a part of your life.
