For all of you whom are not familiar with Haymarket Riot, I wouldn’t say it too loud or you might be looked at like your a dumb ass, here is a brief background on this amazing Chicago band.
Haymarket Riot is a Chicago, Illinois based post-punk rock band that was formed in 1999 by Mike Bennett, Kevin J. Frank, Fred Popolo and Billy Smith.
The current line-up consists of Lead Guitarist – Chris Daly (ex-Sweep The Leg Johnny), Lead Vox/Guitars – Kevin J. Frank (ex-Gauge), Bass Guitar – Fred Popolo, and Drums – Brian Wnukowski (also in the band Cougars).
Since 1999, Haymarket Riot has toured North America, Europe and Japan.
On April 7, 2009 Haymarket Riot released its third full length album titled Endless Bummer. The CD version is a limited pressing with hand silk screened covers, and has been reviewed here at Onekindradio.com if you’d like to read it – Click here!
On September 22, 2009 the band will be releasing “Endless Bummer” on vinyl with a different album cover art, poster, and extra tracks with a digital download card with it. For more information on this release and how to pick up their other releases - Click here
Known for their powerful live shows and original/explosive sound… I was more than happy to sit down with these boys from Chicago before they were to take off for their shows overseas in October where they are heading to Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, and Belgium.
We all met up at The Blind Robin bar here in Chicago and talked about all the latest news going on with the band now… and what they have been up to since their last release in 2006.
Here is the band live on stage in 2006 playing in front of a huge crowd in Belgium.
The song being played is “Grand Canyon”.
