One Kind Radio started on April 1, 1997 as a means to promote Independent music that was not being played on the FM dial here in Chicagoland to allow for more variety to the area. As OKR began to take off.... more musicians had taken notice... as well as listeners to the amazing sounds of these bands that most had never heard of. Over the years OKR had taken a break on June 1, 2006 to allow for it's creator, John Bowles, to pursue other radio shows with Blueswebradio.com and Paddyrock.com... both of which had gained international success as well in the media and in the music industry as a whole. After two years of silence.... and many bands, fans, and publications sending emails... on March 1, 2008 OKR is now back on the air... to start back up again to help promote more great music to a larger and more vast audience than ever... with a new show every 1st of the month.
